Concept Sketch for The Apneist
As The Apneist sinks to his death, he takes
note of the beauty of the sparkling bubbles
that trickle from his lips and soar to the water's
surface; the remnants
of his last breath. They remind him of the chandelier
under which he first laid eyes on his love...
back when he was happy and whole; back before
the war.
This is the opening of A Life of Science's forthcoming
album, The Apneist, a concept record that will
chronicle the life of a successful inventor
far in the future who will ultimately
create the tools that lead to the world's demise,
losing all that he loves in the process. The
album opens with the protagonist drowning himself.
In his final moments, his life flashes before
his eyes. Each flashback is represented by a
song on the album, all of which explain the
events that led to that point.
Concept Sketch for The Apneist
The Apneist will be more than an album, it will
be a multi-media experience consisting of a
10 song album, an animated DVD, a full comic
book, an interactive website, an art series
and more. A Life of Science will bring the story
of The Apneist to life with a sound that ranges
from indie to postpunk to electronica to hardcore
to programmer pop.
The album was recorded at Mind's Eye Digital
Studio in Scottsdale, AZ in June with producer
Larry Elyea. Stay tuned for news on the progress
